Neptune Transits to Natal Ascendant

Neptune Transits to Natal Ascendant

By Corinne Lane     2 Comments

When Neptune transits your natal ascendant, it sensitizes you, producing a lot of new sensory impressions. You feel everything in your environment more strongly. At the same time, you may lose sight of your personal goals. You may be covered by a cloud of confusion, a fog of unreal fantasies and deceptive situations.

What is really happening is that Neptune transits help you transcend, or go outside of, your personal truths, and connect you with a higher reality. How well you handle this depends on how comfortable you are with exploring the supernatural or spiritual realm. This is a time when extreme idealism and a tendency towards spirituality or mysticism can be incorporated into your daily life.

The impression you make on others will change. Your intimate relationships especially will be affected because you will not feel like yourself, and your partner will notice. If you’re already a submissive person, you may now become the victim, even masochistic in some cases. On the other hand, if you’re naturally more dominating, Neptune transits can soften your personality, transforming you into a more flexible or less authoritarian person.

Transit Neptune Conjunct Natal Ascendant

The transit of Neptune conjunct your natal Ascendant is an important transit in which the impression you make on others will change. You’re extremely sensitized to your surroundings. You may feel in danger of losing your sense of who you really are, what your limitations are, even what your direction is. The boundary between you and the world is blurred now, and this can drain your energy. You may need to spend plenty of time alone to recuperate your energies.

You’re more susceptible to be disappointed by other people. There is the tendency to idealize people, especially lovers, and to blind yourself to the truth about their failures. This can later clash with your personal fulfillment. Their failures may not be extremely bad, but it is your refusal to accept the truth that can complicate your life, because when you finally see the truth, you will be disappointed.

You can easily get carried away by certain fantasies, idealism or situations that are unrealistic and useless. You might be completely wrong about what impression you’re giving to others. For example, you may believe that you’re impressing someone, when that’s not entirely true. You may be wrong about why someone likes or dislikes you.

Indeed, the impression you give to others is changing during this transit. But you should not expect too much from others now. You may become interested in helping those who need it and increasing your compassionate and spiritual sense.

Although, remember that you don’t have to be the savior. Don’t pretend that something doesn’t bother you if it does, especially in romantic relationships. If you play the martyr, someone will play the role of persecutor. Stand up for yourself if someone doesn’t respect your personal boundaries. This transit can also produce important psychic experiences and transcend your personal life to a higher and more spiritual level.

Transit Neptune Trine Natal Ascendant, or Transit Neptune Sextile Natal Ascendant

When transit Neptune is trine, or sextile, to your natal Ascendant, you have an increased empathy for other people, and a spiritual understanding of their circumstances and needs. You may sense what others are repressing. You’re more aware of the subliminal all around you. You can understand deeper aspects of your relationships, as well as be more compassionate to others’ shortcomings and help them.

This is mostly a positive period, clouded by two possible dangers.

  1. Your relationships become more spiritual or romantic. You’re likely to overidealize new people you meet. You may overly romanticize a new relationship. The danger is that this can cause disappointment much later when you realize the other person isn’t the perfect picture you imagined.
  2. You now adopt more idealistic philosophies and spiritual views of the world. The danger is that this can distract you from reality, and you may avoid confronting real issues in your day-to-day life. However, it can help you transcend mundane things and allow you to flow into higher, enlightening experiences.

It’s a good time to be alone and meditate on the meaning of your life and what you are doing with it. You should not use this time to dwell on your failures, but rather to improve yourself. Self-help in a positive way is highlighted now.

However, you shouldn’t spend this entire transit alone because it usually lasts well over a year. Indeed, a spiritual guide may enter your life now and teach you something very valuable. Although, this doesn’t mean that you have to take everything they say completely as is. Bear in mind, your ego drive is low during this time, so you’re not likely to question what anyone tells you. After this transit passes, you must evaluate these new teachings with your own intellect and experience. Gradually you will learn that you are a source of a spiritual truth, and that you can question what others tell you.

Transit Neptune Square Natal Ascendant, or Transit Neptune Quincunx Natal Ascendant, or Transit Neptune SemiSquare Natal Ascendant, or Transit Neptune SesquiSquare Natal Ascendant

This description applies for any of these transits:

This is a test on your ability to let go of attachment to material things or even certain personal relationships. During this time, your relationships with others become confusing and difficult. You may meet people who try to dissuade you from your goals, even if they have good intentions. You may become confused about about your life’s path. Therefore, it is not a good time to enter into contracts or business partnerships. Others may or may not be dishonest, but since it’s difficult for you to see your own goals clearly now, you probably will not get what you want.

This transit tries to dissolve your worldly ego, so you may feel insecure, unworthy or undeserving. You will not be very assertive at protecting your own interests, so you might attract people who take advantage of your vulnerability.

You may lose something important in your personal life. But you’ll only lose situations, people or objects that were preventing you from freeing yourself. If a relationship does not work out, ask yourself why you were interested in the first place. If you attract dishonest people, look within yourself to find the reason for this. You may find that you were trying to hold on to something that was not worth it.

This conflict between your worldly attachments and your best life’s path will go smoother if you use this period as a learning experience to enrich your inner spirit. It is best to flow with these experiences without having a specific plan of action since Neptune transits cannot be contained. Neptune transcends beyond the material. It’s the type of influence which, if you try to block it out, will infiltrate through the cracks like some sort of invisible gas leak.

The more you practice ego detachment, the more freedom you’ll have to do what you want. This is a good time to let go of things from your past that are holding you back.

Transit Neptune Opposite Natal Ascendant

When transiting Neptune is opposite your natal ascendant, your intimate relationships are being tested and can get difficult and confusing. You may not be able to communicate or you may feel misunderstood. You must be careful when asking for advice or associating with people you don’t know. There’s a strong possibility of receiving wrong information or being deceived. Communication with all people is unclear, but especially in an intimate relationship.

One of the two tries to hide something or is lying. Try to avoid this, otherwise the other person will lose trust. Even if one of you is doing it for the other person’s good, the other will still be hurt by having a secret kept from them, and this will weaken the relationship.

You may feel out of touch with reality and begin to understand things in a higher and more spiritual way. This is the time to understand another person in a psychologically deep way. You must let go of any personality traits that stand in the way of a spiritual union.

You will be forced to practice ego detachment. If a close relationship deteriorates now, you may feel that you don’t understand why it’s ending. Letting go can hurt, but you will only lose things now that don’t serve the purpose of your life’s spiritual path.

A person who needs your help may also enter your life, but you must be careful that it does not become an unhealthy dependency that is difficult to break. You can offer help as long as you feel truly free to do so. This transit should free you from attachments, not tie you down to them. Any relationships that remain should be those that help you free yourself and enrich your inner spirit.

When the transit of Neptune square to my Ascendant first came into orb, there was something in life I had really been aspiring towards which, due to circumstances beyond my control, then couldn’t happen.

However, the interesting thing is that, before the transit was over, my original goal then suddenly did work out exactly as I had hoped at the time.

Perhaps the transit was trying to teach me to be more flexible, go with the flow and show me that even apparently giving up could, ironically, help me to achieve my aims in life.

I have Neptune on the Ascendant in my natal chart, and I am currently in the middle of a Neptune square natal Neptune / Ascendant transit. To say I’ve lost my drive and focus would be an understatement! And yet I’m completely unconcerned by this (at least right now, lol, sometimes it freaks me out). I can relate to what you’ve written here regarding the Neptune square transit.

I would also add that I have had to let go of who I thought myself to be. If you can believe it, I was a religious/spiritual agnostic, bordering on atheist prior to this transit. Now I’m into astrology and tarot! Every so often I can even see sacred geometry in my minds eye… shocking, I know. It feels like I’ve lost my mind, but I’m enjoying it too much to care 😂.

I’m almost wishing the transit will not end, but I also miss the old me who had things to do and some kind of purpose. I will certainly not miss the near constant brain fog and fatigue though.

I’m not sure if this is related to the Neptune transit, but I am currently in a relationship that I want to get out of but for some reason feel like I can’t. I feel like I owe this person something and feel like my leaving will hurt them badly. So, it’s like I’m sacrificing my own needs so as not to hurt someone else…As I’m typing this out it sounds absolutely ridiculous, even to me, that I would sacrifice myself for a relationship I’m ultimately not that into, and yet here I am, still in it… two years after I realised I wasn’t really that into this person.

Thanks for insights, it feels like being seen.
