Horoscope

A horoscope is a chart or diagram representing the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, astrological aspects, and sensitive angles at a specific time, such as the moment of a person’s birth. Your astrological birth chart is your horoscope. It stops the cosmic clock, capturing the positions of the planets at the moment of your entrance into our world. It is a blueprint of your character and potentials, a cosmic portrait. This is also known as a birth chart or natal chart.

Horoscope in Modern Times is Confused With Forecast

Today, what people call horoscopes are those daily forecasts for their zodiac sun sign. In traditional astrology, those are forecasts, not horoscopes. But the reality is that forecasts are now commonly mistaken for horoscopes. The confusion began because newspapers began printing forecasts for each sun sign and calling them “horoscopes” about 100 years ago. The word “horoscope” has effectively been redefined.

Traditional Definition of Horoscope

Strictly speaking the Ascendant, since it is based upon the “hour.” As generally employed it refers to the Figure, or Map of the Heavens, for a given date and hour, utilized by astrologers for the judgment of a Nativity and for predictions in Mundane and Horary Astrology; also delineations based thereon.
