Avoid During Transit Pluto Opposite Moon
- Don’t bottle up your emotions. Pluto opposite Moon brings up deep feelings- ignoring them just makes things harder.
- Try not to start major fights with family or close friends. Emotions can get intense and things might be blown out of proportion.
- Don’t hold onto unhealthy relationships. If someone is toxic, it’s not the time to cling on or try to “fix” them.
- Avoid making huge life-changing decisions based on a temporary emotional high or low. Wait things out until you feel steady.
- Try not to manipulate or control situations (or people) just to get your way. This will likely backfire under this transit.
- Don’t ignore your need for self-care. Running yourself ragged isn’t going to help you handle this deep emotional time.
- Don’t suppress old wounds or painful memories trying to “just move on.” Pluto wants you to face and heal these things, not hide from them.
- Steer clear of dramatic ultimatums or “all or nothing” attitudes at home- these can escalate quickly and might not be what you really want.
- Try not to get obsessed with control- over people, your feelings, or your environment. Letting go a bit can help a lot.
- Don’t be too hard on yourself if you feel vulnerable or moody. It’s part of the transit, not a sign that you’re weak or failing.
To Do During Transit Pluto Opposite Moon
- Face your emotions head-on: This is a powerful time to look at your feelings instead of avoiding them. Don’t be afraid to dig deep and see what’s really going on under the surface.
- Let go of old emotional baggage: Pluto wants you to clear out what no longer serves you. If you’ve been holding onto past hurts, this is the perfect time to start letting them go.
- Strengthen emotional boundaries: You need to know where you end and others begin. Practice saying “no” when you need to and protect your own emotional space.
- Do some shadow work: This means exploring the parts of yourself you usually keep hidden. Journaling or talking to a therapist about your deepest fears can help.
- Transform your closest relationships: You might notice old patterns coming up with family or close friends. Use this time to talk things through and heal together if you can.
- Create rituals for emotional release: Try things like meditation, breathwork, or even crying it out in a safe space. Find what helps you move heavy feelings through your body.
- Practice self-care and nurture yourself: Take extra good care of yourself right now, whether that’s eating well, resting, or doing things you love to soothe your soul.
- Allow yourself to transform: This transit is all about deep change. Trust that it’s okay to shed old skin and become a new version of yourself, even if it feels scary.
- Seek support if you need it: Reaching out to friends, a counselor, or support groups can help you process everything. You don’t have to go through intense emotions alone.
- Trust the process: Pluto is about rebirth as much as endings. Even if things feel tough, trust that you’re going through this for a reason and something better is on the other side.
What’s Interesting About Transit Pluto Opposite Moon?
- Astral Regression Effects: Frances Sakoian and Louis S. Acker in The Astrologer’s Handbook (1973) mention that Pluto opposite the Moon can dredge up deeply buried memories or feelings from childhood or even “past lives,” sometimes leading to mysterious anxieties or déjà vu sensations during this transit. “Forgotten images, often belonging to childhood, rush up from the subconscious.”
- Dream Symbol Shifts: Dane Rudhyar in The Astrology of Transformation (1978) writes that the Pluto-Moon opposition makes your dreams unusually intense, featuring symbols of darkness, animals, or hidden passageways, pushing you to explore psychological “underworlds” each night. The goal is to nudge your psyche toward cathartic self-knowledge.
- Collective Emotional Overload: In Transits: The Time of Your Life (1977), Betty Lundsted connects Pluto oppositions to the Moon with picking up not just personal moods, but the emotional “weather” of crowds or families. You might feel swamped by collective emotions that don’t seem to be your own. Or you find yourself absorbing “the mood of the tribe,” reacting to family or mass feeling as though it were your own.
- Odd Food Cravings & Digestive Reactions: Betty Lundsted also notes that this transit may “pull up childhood eating patterns and stomach tensions,” causing strange cravings or sudden intolerance for certain foods, especially those tied to childhood comfort.
- Hauntings and Family Ghosts: Isabel M. Hickey in Astrology: A Cosmic Science (1970) mentions “ancestral presences.” She says during this transit people report a sense that the problems or traumas of older generations resurface, as if family ghosts are demanding to be seen and healed.
- Urge to Hibernate: Alexander Ruperti says in Cycles of Becoming (1978) that during Pluto-Moon oppositions people can feel an overpowering need to withdraw from the outer world “regardless of season or circumstance,” as you get an instinct to seek a private womb-like space for deep change.
- Domestic Power Struggles: Robert Hand in Planets in Transit (1976) describes strange influences depending on the houses involved; for example, if this transit opposition is happening in your 4th and 10th houses, it can play out as issues with “leaving home” energy, either being pushed to go or struggling to return. Regardless of which house it’s in, he also warns this transit can manifest as “domestic earthquakes,” fierce battles for control in the home.
- Difficulty Accepting Nurturing: Also according to Robert Hand, this Pluto transit can bring “emotional power-plays within the family,” so that help that is offered is felt as if they’re trying to control you, so you don’t accept the help (or you resist it).
- Inventing Personal Rituals: Pluto-Moon oppositions can drive you to create symbolic or cleansing rituals, little acts meant to impose order on the intense emotional undercurrents stirred up by Pluto. This is according to Howard Sasportas in The Gods of Change (1989). So, you may invent a private ritual as a subconscious attempt to regain control over upheaval.
Experiencing Transit Pluto Opposite Moon
Pluto opposite your natal Moon is no joke. It’s intense, deep, and feels way bigger than everyday ups and downs. Basically, Pluto shines a spotlight on your deepest feelings and memories, especially the stuff you’d rather not deal with. You might find yourself dealing with emotions that come out of nowhere, or old wounds that suddenly seem super raw again. Relationships- especially with family, women, or anyone who feels like “home” to you- can get complicated, intense, or emotional.
This transit lasts a while, too (sometimes a year or more), and things can feel like they’re getting dragged up from your emotional basement whether you want them to or not. It’s common to feel like things are happening to you, not because of you. But it’s really about facing your truths, even if they’re not very pretty. It can feel lonely or emotionally overwhelming, but there’s also a massive chance for growth.

- Loss or Endings: Sometimes, this transit brings real-world losses- like a friend moves away, or a job situation ends, or there’s some cutoff from the past forcing you to let go.

This is an amazing and very relatable interpretation of Pluto Opposite Moon. Pluto is transiting my ascendant, and I am a 7th house Leo. Transformation would be an understatement, as this transit has touched so many of my relationships but especially my relationship with my self, my self worth. This one runs deep. I also lost my Father, had an epic argument with my only sibling. For the past year I’ve been practicing way more self-care, I’ve been consistently exercising for 2+ years as well as incorporated a monthly ancestral prayer ritual for the past year. Too many feelings flowing through me to connect every dot, but this transit has caused me to begin clearing out the first 40 years of life’s conditioning on me. I think there’s a stronger, sharper, more understanding, more courageous version of me on the other side of this tranist.
