Will soon include President Joe Biden.

(This page shows the results of 4 tallies. If you prefer instead, see a table of the zodiac signs of all the U.S. Presidents.)

The most prevalent zodiac signs among U.S. Presidents may surprise you. Here are four different tallies of U.S. Presidents’ zodiac signs.

Donald Trump is the 45th president. However, there are actually 44 presidents because Grover Cleveland was both the 22nd & the 24th president. Our tallies don’t make the mistake of including Grover Cleveland twice.

*See the bottom of this page to see which presidents are excluded from each tally.

Tally 1: Midheaven (M.C.) Signs Only

The M.C. sign definitely influences a career as public as the presidency. For a public figure who is seen mostly on TV or video rather than in person, the midheaven sign will be the most noticeable, even more so than the rising sign. Generally, you must have some close contact with a person in order to notice the rising sign. So, this first tally counts just the midheaven sign of the presidents.

Cancer is the most prevalent midheaven sign among U.S. presidents. Also, look at the tally by elements and qualities. Water signs and cardinal signs are in the lead. Cancer is the cardinal water sign of the zodiac. This corroborates the fact that America has preferred a Cancer midheaven sign. See the following three graphs.

Is Cancer Zodiac Sign Surprising Among U.S. Presidents?

It turns out that the United States of America has a Cancer sun sign, with a small stellium in Cancer. (U.S.A. was born on July 4, 1776, Philadelphia, PA.) Given this information, it’s not surprising that America loves presidents with a strong Cancer influence.

The M.C. sign leans toward describing the type of work they do as presidents. Capricorn and Cancer are both parental archetypes, guiding, nurturing and protecting. (Capricorn midheaven signs are in second place, which is also high. Capricorn is the classic executive/CEO sign.) It’s very fitting for these two signs to be well represented among presidential midheaven signs.

Tally 2: Rising Signs Only

The tally of only the Rising (ascendant) signs tells a different story. Libra is the most prevalent Rising sign among U.S. presidents, with Taurus and Virgo tied at second place.

Why Libra, Taurus & Virgo Rising?

Why are Libra, Taurus, and Virgo most prevalent among presidential rising signs?

Rising signs show, above all, our appearance. Apparently, U.S.A. wants presidents to appear attractive, dependable and smart, in that order.

Libra Rising are the most “beautiful” people. Libra rising has the charm and grace that makes it easy for them to win elections.

Virgo Rising are the “smartest-looking” people. Libra and Virgo both have a tendency to submit to others, or at least, appear to submit. They appear friendly and helpful. They are both somewhat “people-pleasers.”

Taurus, while not a people-pleaser, has a calming effect on people. Taurus Rising appears as a rock-solid, dependable co-worker. They automatically give people a feeling of security. When problems arise and everybody else flies off the handle, Taurus Rising calmly provides solutions.

Drab-appearing Capricorn ranks low among rising signs, but it ranks the high where it counts: the action-oriented, career-focused M.C. (See graph above.)

Is Scorpio Rising So Scary?

Not even one U.S. president has had Scorpio rising. I have three theories about this.

First, it may be that U.S.A. does not want a sexy president.

Second, Americans aren’t ready to trust a president that is so predisposed to extreme secrecy. Scorpio Rising people appear to be hiding something even when they are not. It’s been said that Scorpio Rising generates fear in others. (Scorpio’s secrecy is really just a protective instinct. It’s not anything to be afraid of.)

Third, it may be that Scorpio Rising people are not at all interested in the office of U.S. President. In fact, they do not like to be put on display. They prefer to wield low-key, subliminal power. To see the zero-count for Scorpio rising, see the graph “Rising Signs of U.S. Presidents”, shown above.

Tally 3: Sun & Moon Signs Together

Tallying only Sun & Moon signs is misleading because they are like an underlying “frame” that is shaped and molded by the rest of the birth chart. The sun sign is not usually publicly noticeable in people. The sun and moon signs can easily be hidden from public view. The Rising and M.C. signs are more obviously & publicly noticeable. That’s why the M.C. & rising signs are more telling of political careers, and why we discussed them first. Anyhow, here is the tally of the sun and moon signs, together, of the U.S. presidents.

For U.S. Presidents, the sun & moon sign combination can be seen as an underlying motive or underlying strength.

Among all the sun & moon signs of U.S. Presidents, Capricorn and Taurus are tied as the most prevalent with 10 counts each. Scorpio is in second place with nine counts.

Underlying Motive or Strength Of U.S. Presidents

Based on the most prevalent signs among the suns and moons, I can make a few generalizations about what drives U.S. Presidents. These may also be qualities that Americans have come to expect of the President.

Tally 4: Grand Total Winner of Most Prevalent Zodiac Sign

This tally combines the previous three tallies. Here we count the Sun, moon, rising, and midheaven signs, all together.

The grand total winner for the most prevalent sign among U.S. Presidents is Taurus. Capricorn is in second place, losing to Taurus by only one point.

This result is similar to the Sun/moon count, with Taurus and Capricorn leading the way. These two signs are classically dependable, steady, and unafraid of hard work.

Aries Need Not Apply

Earth, water, and air signs are pretty well represented in all of these tallies. This favors a combination of dependable earth, compassionate water, and witty, airy intelligence. Fire signs ranked the lowest among the combined tallies.

Which fire sign had the lowest average? Aries. Apparently, America wants a leader who can be in control of him/herself more than an Aries is comfortable with.

Aries will not be subdued. The Aries strength for fearless risk-taking can make them one of the most successful entrepreneurs or business types. It is just not what the American people have voted for in a President.

I did some analysis of your results and the distribution of the rising sign is actually very significant. I compared the distribution of the moon, which is not significant, with the distribution of the ascendant and the results are The t-value is -3.61659. The p-value is .000765. The result is significant at p < .10. In other words very significant. I am an astrological scientist and I have studied very much about world leaders. This study is very good. I also examined the significance of the Mid Heaven and again used the signs of the moon as a control and the result was very significant as well. The t-value is 3.76477. The p-value is .000534. The result is significant at p < .01. The ascendant and the Mid Heavens are interacting and the Cancer/Capricorn axis of the greatest number of presidents makes it more significant as the US is a cancer country with its birthday on July 4th. – Cancer.
